Birthday boy Ramadan Sobhi shines in Ahlys win over Maqassa

Ahly winter signing Ramadan Sobhi has celebrated his 22nd birthday with a dazzling display as Ahly defeated Maqassa 3-0 in a league game at Alexandria s Borg El-Arab Stadium on Thursday.

The winger, who turned 22 on Wednesday, scored a goal and provided another in Thursday s win.

Sobhi s goal is his first since joining Ahly from Premier League side Huddersfield on a six-month loan deal in January.

The club s record signing Hussein El-Shahat opened the scoring in the 4th minute, while Nigerian winger Junior Ajayi added the second in the 29th minute.

Sobhi completed the rout with 13 minutes remaining, giving his side a precious win.

Ahly climbed to the third place with 30 points, 11 points behind leaders Zamalek, who played one match more.

El-Shahat received a nice pass from Ramadan Sobhi that made him clear to score easily from a close-range.

The former Maqasaa player refused to celebrate his maiden goal against his previous club.

Ahly maintained their pressure after the goal, preventing Maqassa from making any threats.

In the 28 minute, midfielder Nasser Maher had the chance to double the seal for his side, but his powerful shot from inside the area was denied by the bar.

One minute later, Nigerian winger Junior Ajayi added Ahly s second goal with a wonderful shot from inside the area after receiving a nice throw from midfielder Amr El-Soulaya.

Ajayi s goal is first since returning from a lengthy absence after recovering from a knee injury that sidelined him for around six months.

The Nigerian winger appeared for the first time since his injury in Ahly s 1-1 draw against JS Saoura of Algeria last week and he made his first start against Maqassa.

Maqassa s coach Talaat Youssef introduced winger Paulin Voavy and Mohamed Ramadan in the second-half, but the duo failed to impress as Ahly controlled the game in terms of possession.

With 13 minutes remaining, Ramadan Sobhi scored the third goal with a nice back-heal touch to kill the game.
