Copts in the presidential amnesty

A presidential amnesty was issued on January 25, 2018 by president Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, but there is a number of Copts whose names were not included in that list.

The first name is Gergis Baroumi who was accused of raping a girl from Farshout, but the medical report confirmed that the girl was not raped and that the accused suffers from a lack of sexual ability!

The second name is Father Poulos Al Rayani, the monk who refused to demolish the wall of his monastery and offered the authorities alternative maps to protect his monastery from the new high way. Later, he was tried and imprisoned on several charges including the resistance of the authorities. The old man who left the world to worship God in the monastery has been imprisoned for months despite many requests for his release due to his deteriorating health conditions.

We do respect the court rulings, but the constitution and law provided a way of amnesty for punishment that can help those poor people by a presidential amnesty according to Article 155 of the Constitution of 2014. Therefore, we ask the Egyptian President to issue a presidential amnesty for Girgis Baroumi and the monk Paul Al Rayani.
