Egyptian museum selects 9 military objects for October piece of month vote

The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities selected 9 artifacts highlighting the Egyptian army history to be put to vote on Facebook for its “October piece of the month,” the antiquities ministry said in a statement Monday.

The move comes to mark the 43rd anniversary of the Egyptian army’s victory in the 6 October War.

Among the selected artifacts are a group of Egyptian lancers carved in wood from the tomb of Prince Mesehti in Asyut, a limestone statue of the 11th dynasty Theban General Antef, chief general of King Mentuhotep II, seated and wearing a wig as well as an alabaster statue of the 18th dynasty King Tuthmosis III, said Sabah Abdel Razek, Director General of the Egyptian Museum.

She explained that the selected objects show the role of the Egyptian army throughout the ancient times and the weapons they used in their battles against invaders.
