Mr Robot: Egyptian-American Rami Malek wins Emmy for best actor in a drama

 Egyptian-American actor Rami Malak won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as the star of cyberspace security thriller Mr. Robot.

The series is the brain child of Sam Esmail, also an Egyptian-American, who is a screenwriter, film and television director and producer.
 
The series also won an Emmy for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore) for music by Mac Quayle.
 
In Mr. Robot, Malak plays Elliot Alderson, "a young programmer who works as a cyber-security engineer by day and a vigilante hacker by night," IMDb’s website reads.
 
Born in 1981 in Los Angeles, California, USA, to Egyptian parents, Malak graduated from the University of Evansville, USA.
 
Prior to Mr. Robot, he was already know for his roles in Short Term 12 (2013) and Need for Speed (2014).
 
Earlier this year, Malak was also nominated to a Golden Globe award (2016) for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama.
