Egyptian football club drop Cameroonian striker Nlend after 'failing HIV test'

Egyptian football club Ittihad of Alexandria terminated the contract of the team's new striker Samuel Nlend after they said medical tests revealed that the Cameroonian is a carrier of HIV.

Ittihad had signed a three-year contract with the former Union de Douala striker four days earlier.

In an official statement on their official website, the club said that the results are confirmed as the tests were conducted in two different laboratories.

The club posted the test results on their official website.

"He is a good player and he has great capabilities, but the results of the medical tests are the main reason for our decision to terminate his contract," the club's sports director Assem Cika told Ahram Sports on Monday.

Earlier this year, the 21-year-old played twice against Zamalek when the Cairo giants defeated Union de Douala in the first round of the Champions League.
