Atiqa died in Fayoum on Thursday; the funeral was led by Ahmed Gaddaf Al Dam, Gaddafi’s cousin, Atiqas children and many Bedouin tribes from across Egypt. Gaddaf Al Dam was the coordinator of Libyan-Egyptian relations under the reign of Gaddafi.

“(Atiqa) was an example of a nomad woman in her goodness, generosity and simplicity. She had left Sirte with two million others our people after the grinding battles waged by the NATO on the territory of Libya, the pure, and after legendary steadfastness against the fleets pouring lava for eight months, reinforced by hundreds of the latest aircrafts, laser missiles, Apache, unmanned aircrafts and satellites,” Gaddaf Al Dam wrote on Facebook.

The tribe of Gaddafi has a branch in Egypt of over 100,000 people concentrated in Fayoum, Minya and Beheira, who had migrated to Egypt during the Italian occupation of Libya, according to Youm7.
