Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education, received on Tuesday His Holiness Pope Tawadros II at Helwan University to be honored by the University as one of the most important Egyptian figures. Dr. Majid Najim, head of the university, handed over the honor shield to the Pope while attending the ceremony.

Coptic Orthodox Church Media Center said that His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, received Father John Abdul Malik, priest of St. George çhruch in Fiji Islands. During the meeting, they discussed the ministry in Fiji Islands.

Coptic Church mourned today priest Domadious Kozman of St. Parsoum monastery in Helwan. The priest died at the age of 75 after spending more than 33 years as priest. Pope Tawadros II and Bishpo Besenti of Helwan offered their sincere condolences for the departure of the reverend priest.

A group of International Youth delegation welcomed Pope Tawadros before his weekly sermon at Archangel Michael church in King Mariout. The meeting was attended by many bishops and clergy of the Coptic church.

Media Center of the Coptic Church announced the conclusion of the Carnival ‘in his image’ that was held for 4 days. It was organized by the Biblical House of Egypt for the third year in the Diocese of Qusiya and Mir. The Carnival was attended by 26000 people from the diocese and nearby cities and was blessed by the presence of Bishops Tomas of Qusiya and Thofilis of Manfalout.

Bishop Markos of Damietta and Kafr El-Sheikh ordained a new priest at the feast of the virgin Mary at her archaeological church in Sakha. Father Poulos Salama was ordained a general priest, which is the first ordination of the bishop after his enthronement bishop of the diocese.

The Church of Our Lady and St. Abraam in Brighton, England, celebrated the feast of the Virgin by holding a march at the nearby streets. The church had celebrated daily masses and vespers during the fasting of the virgin for two weeks.

Egypt s Ministry of Youth and Sports announced it will launch a national sports initiative under the slogan bicycle for everyone . The Ministry of Youth and Sports revealed that the initiative aims to change the culture of daily transport of citizens and improve their physical and health fitness and encourage them to use the means of active mobility instead of relying on cars and motorcycles that pollute the environment. Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Sports, will announce the details of the initiative in a press conference next September.

In his weekly sermon, Pope Tawadros II congratulated the Coptic congregation on the fasting of the Virgin Mary. The sermon was delivered this week at the monastery of St. Mina in Mariout. The fasting lasts for 15 days and is widely celebrated among the Copts.

The new monks are: Monk Michael, Monk Antonius, Monk Paula, Monk Abdel-Masieh, and Monk Maximus.

Bishop Silwanus, Head of the Monastery of St. Pachomious Al-Shayeb in Luxor, ordained 4 new monks at the monastery. The new monks are Surayal Al-Shayeb, Misael Al-Shayeb, Ishaq Al-Shayeb and Metaous Al-Shayeb. The ordination ceremony was attended by monks and congregation of nearby cities.

Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, received today a number of Coptic youth from Los Angeles, USA. The delegation is currently visiting Egypt for tourism and ministry in Upper Egypt. The Pope also met with a delegation of Maronite youth from the Church of Tire in Lebanon and exchanged gifts with them.

The Coptic Orthodox Church Media Center announced the opening of a new church in the state of Washington by Abba Peter, Bishop of North and South Carolina, Kentucky and the vicar of the Virginia Churches. St. Mark s Church in Washington DC was opened and the first evening prayers were held. It s worth mentioning that Bishop Peter was born in 1974 and emigrated to America at the age of 19, before he joined the monastery and was ordained later bishop by HH Pope Tawadros.

St. George Church in Old Cairo celebrated on Tuesday the commemoration of the arrival of Martyr s relics to the church. 15 deacons were promoted to the rank of Oghnostos (translated reader) on that occasion.
