Coptic family displaced for mixed-religion love story

6 houses of Coptic Christians as well as 3 cars were burnet in sectarian violence in Ezbet Zakaria village, Minya, because of emotional relationship between a Coptic Christian young man and a Muslim young woman.

Muslims of the village decided to take revenge from all Christians of the village by burning the church, but some rational Muslims have prevented them.

It was decided in a customary reconciliation session that the Christian man should pay 21.000 $ and abandon the village.

Yet, it was not enough for the fanatics of the village who decided to burn the houses and the cars as well, causing losses for the Coptic Christians of about 120.000 $ and forcing his family to abandon the village as well.

16 defendants were arrested in the sectarian violence incidents.
