The Egyptian identity and the president s speech

During the speech of President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi at the swearing-in ceremony, I noticed his stress on the need to preserve the Egyptian identity. I stop at this term and this concept, as it is very important to pay attention to the president s speech including the problem of the Egyptian identity and how can we revive it.

In my opinion, there is a big difference between the national identity and the intellectual identity. Such difference may not be recognized by those who hold conferences to talk about identity in front of the cameras.

Keeping a good rate of development depends on realizing such intellectual identity in general. Such identity can contribute to such progress of the people in a certain country. However, we should notice the organized replacement of the true national culture.

By the national culture, I mean that one comes from the depths of history but stays away from myths. It is not subjective but objective. The true national culture is indeed capable of building bridges to connect with different cultures. It respects diversity and yet is able to communicate.

Cultural identity is an integral part of the Egyptian national identity and must be linked to development. Such message of the president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is very important to preserve the Egyptian identity.
