Coptic MPs have failed

When the Egyptian constitution decided to give a positive discrimination to the Copts, the Coptic MPs should have defended the Copts and demanded their needs. Yet, those MPs failed to represent the Copts and claim their rights.

The very first law that they should have cared about was the unified law of houses of worship. But they failed to pass a respectful law to protect the Copts. Instead, it became a law to prevent the Copts from building houses of worship or open the already existing closed ones.

This was an exam for the Coptic MPs, but they clearly failed in this exam as the law was obligatory to be passed by the constitution. They could have used this obligation and pass a decent law, but they have done nothing but holding several meetings with the church and the media to talk about their hard working and great efforts.

President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi visited the church five times, just like the suicide bombers who visited five churches. But the Coptic MPs hear nothing about those attacks and thus, we heard neither questioning nor discussion about the attacks in the parliament. Such ignorance included other great incidents like the martyrs of Libya and the displacement of Copts in Arish.

Several Coptic girls were kidnapped in Minya, but the Coptic MPs have not heard about them. Copts were insulted in media, but their MPs took no action. They didn t move to stop the anti-hatred law of Al-Azhar that was full of hatred. Thank God it disappeared by the grace of God.

Al-Azhar began the invasion of the metro by the fatwa offices, and we did not hear the Coptic MPs refusing them and demanding civil freedom and equality. Only the brave MP Mohamed Abu Hamid called to close those offices.

Coptic MPs started to discuss Coptic issues in media instead of discussing them in the house of representatives. Every now and then they prove their failure and helplessness.

The representation of the Copts in the Parliament is not an act where the Coptic MPs shed their tears and shout and mourn at the time of calamity. It is rather a sacred job to care for the nation and the Copts and demand the rights of those whom they represent.

The representation of the Copts is not an extreme job that the deputies are afraid of, and it is not division seeking of the homeland. You are so loser and failure since you trade on the Copts and not defend them and claim their rights. You still have one year to prove the opposite of these claims. Dear Coptic MPs, I pray for you that you may have conscience, courage and sincerity in order to hear the voices of the Copts.
