1.7 mln poor families registered in government’s social aid Project

 A total of one million and 700,000 poor families have been registered to receive a monthly pension as part of the “Takafol and Karama” Project, according Ahmed Latif, an official at the project.

 
The project has been implemented in 17 governorates thus far; it has examined eligibility of thousands of poor families to decide who will be entitled to the project.
 
The Egyptian government has started the second phase of the “Takafol and Karama” or “Solidarity and Dignity” Project, which aims to provide impoverished families and citizens who are unable to work with monthly stipend and health insurance.
