9% increase in Egypt’s non-petroleum exports in April 2016: minister

Egypt’s non-petroleum exports have increased by 8.85 percent to register $1.7 billion in April 2016, compared to $1.6 billion during the same period last year, Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil was quoted by Al Ahram Monday.

The total value of non-petroleum exports during January-April 2016 stood at $ 6.5 billion compared to $6.4 billion during the same period a year earlier, said Kabil, quoting a report from the Internal and External Trading Data Unit at the Ministry of Trading and Commerce.
 
Exports in the sector of construction materials increased by 48 percent in April 2016 to register $405 million, compared $273 million in April 2015, according to the report.
 
During April 2016, medical exports also increased by six percent while agricultural exports increased by two percent, compared with figures from April 2015, said Kabil.
