Ahly seek another league victory over Arab Contractors amid injury crisis

Injury-plagued team Ahly will be seeking a new win over Arab Contractors when they face each other for the second time in a week in the Egyptian Premiere League Monday.

The Reds defeated Arab Contractors 3-0 in a postponed match Thursday to extend their winning streak to nine successive league matches.

A new victory Monday will ensure Ahly s supremacy of the league as they currently lead the table with 57 points, 11 points ahead of main challengers and second placed Ismaily. Contractors lie in eighth place with 31 points.

Ahly are already suffering from a defensive crisis as key trio Saad Samir, Rami Rabiaa and Ali Maaloul missed recent games due to injury.

On Sunday, right backs Mohamed Hani and Basem Ali suddenly joined the injury list to aggravate the matter for coach Hossam El-Badry who decided to call youth team defender Mohamed Abdel-Monem to cover the absentees.

Playmaker Walid Soliman will be available for the match after recovering from his injury, while midfielder Mohamed Sherif joined the squad for the first time since his recent arrival from Wadi Degla.

"Ahly is suffering from several absences since the season start and the technical staff always find the proper solutions," Ahly s assistant coach Ahmed Ayoub told the club s media centre.

"Facing the same team in two successive matches is like playing in cup matches and it makes our mission more difficult. We asked the players to be fully concentrated as our opponents will do their best to recover the loss," he added.

Arab Contractors will be seeking revenge from Ahly, especially as they lost their last four league matches.
