Egypt jumps 10 places in FIFA November rankings after Ghana defeat

 With a victory over Ghana and topping the 2018 World Cup qualifiers group, Egypt climbed ten positions to 36 in the FIFA global football rankings published on 24 November, after placing 46th last month.

The Pharaohs played their second big game in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Ghana, beating the Black Stars 2-0 in Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium after defeating Congo 2-1 at Brazzaville.
 
Looking to reach the World Cup for the first time since 1990, Egypt lead Group E with six points, two ahead of challengers Uganda, who defeated Congo.
 
Egypt made it into the world's top 10 when they won three successive CAN trophies in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
 
Egypt are fourth continentally and second among Arab countries after Tunisia (34), while Algeria dropped three places in November's ranking after losing 3-1 to Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers.
 
Senegal jumped one position to 33 to lead the African nations, while Ivory Coast, who dropped three places, are second ahead of Tunisia.
 
Argentina are topping the world rankings while Brazil became second and Germany, who dropped one position, are third.
 
In other highlights from November, Armenia was the best mover in this month's rankings, jumping 38 places, while Chad fell hardest, dropping 49 places.
