We lost points but we won a new team after Smouha draw, Zamalek coach says

After the goalless draw with Smouha on the 6th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League, Zamalek coach Moamen Soliman revealed that he is not depressed about the game's result after his player’s performance during the game.

"We were better during the game and we deserved to win but suffered from bad luck," Soliman said at the post game press conference.

"I don't blame the players for the draw with Smouha as they did their best during the game."

Zamalek failed to get over their loss in the African Champions League final after being kept at bay by Smouha in a 0-0 draw in their second Egyptian Premier League game on Thursday.

The White Knights struggled to break down a dogged defence for most of the game but were unlucky not to snatch a much-needed victory in the dying minutes when they spurned two golden chances.

The Cairo giants made sweeping changes to the side that lost to the Sundowns following the injury of some key players, including midfielder Tarek Hamed and playmaker Ayman Hefni.

"We lost two points against Smouha but we have won a new team that can make the change in the future," the Zamalek coach concluded.

Zamalek have four points from two matches, 12 behind leaders and title-holders Ahly who have played four games more. Smouha are second on 12 points.
