3 tons of sugar seized in Souhag before being sold on black market

 Supply police at Upper Egypt’s governorate of Sohag seized on Thursday more than three tons of subsidized sugar amid growing shortages in the basic commodity on the market, Youm7 reported.

 
Thursday’s seizure was the latest amid a price hike and shortage in sugar that have been reported in several governorates including Cairo sparking anger amongst shoppers.
 
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail met with Supply Minister Mohamed Ali al Sheikh on Saturday to discuss measures taken to provide enough amounts of sugar at market prices in a bid to tackle the growing crisis.
 
Egypt contracted to buy 400,000 tons of raw Sugar, Ahmed Kamal, assistant supply minister was quoted by state news agency MENA on Friday.
