Luxor hosts 5th UNWTO Global Summit on City Tourism

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) announced that Luxor will be hosting its fifth Global Summit on City Tourism on Nov. 1-2, Youm7 reported.

Under the scheme”Cities: Local Culture for Global Travelers,” the summit will investigate city tourism trends and debate sustainable development, spatial organization and rejuvenation, innovation in city tourism, cross-cultural behavior and new business models, the UNWTO announced in a statement on Thursday.

During the two-day summit, the UNWTO will launch the Mayors for Tourism Initiative, which is part of the action plan of the UNWTO City Tourism Network, which aims to gather mayors and decision makers in cities experiencing tourism issues, who will discuss and share best practices in managing the challenges and opportunities that tourism presents to local administrations.

The summit comes amid low turnout of tourists to Egypt’s city that houses most significant monumental sites following the 2011 uprising.
