Ministry of Irrigation announced that the total encroachments on the Nile have reached 16,917 cases since January 2015.
Out of the total violations, around 11,447 cases have been removed in 16 governorates.
Launched in January 2015, the “Nile Charter Campaign” aims to remove 50, 399 violations that affect the river, which is the main water resource for Egypt.
Save The Nile Campaign has previously managed to remove thousands of transgressions on the Nile.
The encroachments are monitored via satellite and aerial photography, and the footage is reviewed by “Nile Guards” Committee formed as part of the campaign.
