'Zamalek are a weak team,' Wydad official says after his side's defeat

Wydad's media officer Mohamed Talal believes that his side's heavy defeat against Zamalek in the Champions League semis does not reflect the actual level of the two sides, describing the Cairo giants as a “weak team.”

Zamalek outclassed the Moroccan side 4-0 in the first-leg of the Champions League semis at Borg El-Arab Stadium last Friday, closing in on reaching the continental competition final for the first time since 2002.

"The win was a surprise for [Zamalek]; we recognised their exaggerated delight after the victory," Talal told Radio Mars on Tuesday.

"It was a severe defeat but we will not exit the competition in this way. We need the support of all Moroccans in the Saturday clash."

The defeat prompted the club management to sack coach John Toshack before naming Mohamed Sohail as team's new coach.

Wydad will host Zamalek in the second leg in a do-or-die mission on Saturday.
