Zamalek goalkeeper hopes to face Real Madrid in FIFA Club World Cup

After getting a first-leg advantage in the African Champions League semifinals, Zamalek’s first choice goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawy revealed his hopes of facing Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup next December.

Zamalek claimed a 4-0 home win over Morocco's Wydad Casablanca on Friday in the first leg of the CAF Champions league semis and they will visit Morocco in the second leg on 24 September.

"The dream of reaching the Clubs' World Cup is now close," El-Shenawy told a television programme late on Saturday.

"Sure, I hope to face Real Madrid in FIFA Club World Cup," he said.

"I won one League title and two Egyptian Cups so I miss the CAF Champions League title."

Friday's 4-0 victory over Wydad will make Zamalek's mission in the second-leg easier when they visit Wydad Casablanca in Morocco on 24 September.

"The players promised to win the African title as we consider the final game as a life or death mission whoever the opponent will be," El-Shenawy said.

"I hope to achieve my dream of playing in Europe and my team's chairman won't mind when we receive a good offer," the Zamalek goalkeeper concluded.
