Reaching the African Champions league final not ensured yet: Zamalek coach

Zamalek coach Moemen Soliman heaped praise on his player's after Friday's 4-0 home win over Morocco's Wydad Casablanca, insisting that the Cairo giants still have a lot to do to ensure a place at the African Champions League final.

Shikabala, Ayman Hefny, Bassem Morsi and Mostafa Fathi all shined and scored a goal each to earn Zamalek a first leg advantage at prestigious tournament's semi final.

"The players' performance was outstanding. It wasn't only 100% but 120%," Soliman said in the press conference after the match.

"I am very happy with the great victory; we respected our opponents and studied them well. I want to thank all the players after succeeding to fulfill our expectations."

"Despite the big win, we committed some mistakes that we will work hard to avoid in the coming match," the coach added.

Zamalek, who are chasing their first Champions League title since 2002, are now a step closer to reaching the final.

Friday's victory will make the Whites mission in the second-leg easier when they visit Wydad in Morocco on 24 September.

"Qualification for the final isn't ensured yet. We will carry out special preparations for the return match to get a positive result," the coach concluded.

Winning a Champions league title would come a good boost for Zamalek who lost the Egyptian league title last season to arch rivals Ahly, but managed to win Egypt Cup.
