Egypt drop 10 places in FIFA September rankings

Egypt have dropped ten positions to 53 in the FIFA global football rankings that were published on 15 September, after placing 43rd last month.

The Pharaohs played two friendlies earlier this month as they held to a 1-1 draw with Guinea at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab stadium before losing to South Africa 1-0 at Orlando Stadium.

Egypt are seventh continentally and third among Arab countries after Algeria (35) and Tunisia (42).

Ivory Coast, who climbed two positions this month, top the African rankings, while Algeria, who dropped three places, became second among African countries.

Egypt made it into the world's top 10 when they won three successive African Cup of Nations trophies in 2006, 2008 and 2010. They last reached the World Cup in 1990.

Argentina are topping the world rankings while Belgium became second and Germany, who dropped one position, are third.

In other highlights from the September rankings, Bolivia made the biggest move after climbing 35 positions to place 75 in the world rankings, while the Central African Republic dropped the most, losing 35 positions to place 122.
