President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will visit Addis Ababa Friday to attend the 26th African Union Summit; governance, elections and adherence to constitutional principles will be the main topics of the summit, according to a Thursday presidential statement.
The summit will also discuss means to fund the African Union and regional cooperation for “counter terrorism.”
Sisi will present to the African nations a report on his efforts during the December 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris, where Egypt represented the African Union.
Egypt’s membership in the African Union Peace and Security Council coincides with its membership in the United Nations Security Council, which would “enhance coordination between the two councils in dealing with African issues, presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef stated.”
