Former jihadist: Islamic State ‘as good as donkeys’ in reading Quran
A former jihadist has slammed the islamic state's excommunication mentality,A former Jihadist has slammed the Islamic State’s excommunication mentality, saying that its members are “as good as donkeys” at interpretation of the Quran.

Nageh Ibrahim, a former leader at Jamaa al-Islamiya, called upon the IS, notorious for beheading captives in Iraq and Syria, to not to quote Islam or its prophet to justify its operations.

“There are 19 verses in Quran speaking about forgiveness, and all we are witnessing is killings,” Ibrahim said during a seminar by al-Azhar University’s alumni on Tuesday.

“Allah will not ask you how many people you accuse of infidelity, but rather how many have you guided to the right way,” Ibrahim said, accusing the IS of gaining support from al-Qaeda-affiliated militias.

Ibrahim said that while some “bomb the country’s infrastructure for disagreeing with the state, the whole population pays the price for that”, possibly referring to recurrent bombings that has been targeting public facilities since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2011.

Ibrahim’s Jamaa al-Islamiya led a bloody campaign against police forces and tourists in the 1980s and the 1990s before renouncing violence later. It established its own political party following the 2011 uprising.
