Al-Sisi meets with security officials ahead of Economic Summit
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi held a meeting with high caliber security officials Thursday to discuss security plans for the Economic Summit in Sharm El-Shiekh, according to a presidential statement.

Al-Sisi met with Minister of Defense Sedki Sobhy, Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel Ghaffar, the Head of Intelligence, and the leaders of the main branches of the armed forces.

Al-Sisi commended “the great sacrifices made by all of the men of the armed forces and the police to strengthen the security of the homeland and citizens,” the statement read.

It added that Al-Sisi also highlighted the importance of “continuing to target terrorist outposts and criminal plans”, as well as “the plans that seek to shake the stability of Egypt.”

Egypt has been heavily promoting the Economic Summit in hopes that will bring “economic development” and more foreign investors into Egypt.

Al-Sisi also called for “the need to restore the inherent values of the Egyptian society, which should prevail in the relationship between citizens and security men.”

The President added that “every loyal citizen appreciates the role of honourable security men.”
The Economic Summit is running from 13 to 15 March.
