“Revolution against Coptic silence” coalition Rapporteur in Beni Suef: Writing the religion in the national ID is a consecration of the sectarian and racism

"Mina Fathy", Rapporteur of “Revolution against Coptic silence” in Beni Suef, expressed his wish to see an article in the new constitution that emphasizes the full citizenship for all citizens regardless of their religion, sex, or color.

“I wish it would be an active article, not decorative, as it was in the old constitution, and it may be a basis for other laws, particularly, the law to prevent discrimination, and give the fair punishment for the distinction between citizens up to the execution penalty” He said.
"Fathi" pointed out that discrimination is much more dangerous than murder, adding that a murderer takes the life of one or two people, but he who discriminates on a religious basis, kills millions of people. He called for removing the religion from the national ID, as its goal is identifying the name and nationality of the citizen. The presence of religion in the national ID devotes sectarianism and discrimination. He stressed that the Copts should follow Christian law concerning the personal affairs and not the Islamic law. But he expected the new constitution to be the worst after the Islamists took over the People's Assembly and Shura Council.
