Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi congratulated in a telegram Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for becoming the new emir of Kuwait, read a statement by the Egyptian Presidency.
Sheikh Nawaf, 83, assumed power on Wednesday following the death of emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, 91, on Tuesday.
“The Egyptian president, people, and government wish the best of success for his Highness Prince Nawaf Al-Sabah in continuing the efforts of construction and development achieved by late Sheikh Sabah,” the statement added.
El-Sisi affirmed in his message the strong ties between Egypt and Kuwait, saying he looked forward for more bilateral cooperation for the benefit of their peoples and to serve the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations.
The president wished the emir and his people progress, peace and prosperity.
On Tuesday El-Sisi announced three days of mourning for the late emir in Egypt.
