A number of political movements denounced closing cafés owned by Copts in Ramadan claiming it is misdemeanor to eat or drink during the day in Ramadan.
It added that police in Alexandria is acting like groups of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in fanatic countries.
For his part, Ibrahim Najjar, head of the Investigation Department in Dekhila, Alexandria, said that such cafés may incite sectarian strife, and eating or drinking in the day of Ramadan is but a misdemeanor according to the Egyptian law.
