Abba Peter, Coptic bishop of North Carolina, opened the Holy Youth Christian Academy in North Carolina that belongs to the Coptic church. This came after he celebrated the Holy Mass at the church of Archangel Raphael and St. John the Evangelist in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Abba Barnaba, Bishop of Turneyo and Rome, is discussing with the officials the preparations of an exhibition of Egyptian antiquities and Coptic icons in Rome from May to September aiming to activate and support religious tourism to Egypt. The discussions were held with officials of the Egyptian embassy in Italy and Italian NGOs and the Catholic church in Italy.

Mai Taha, Egyptian Ambassador in Cyprus, visited the new Coptic Orthodox church in the Cypriot capital of Nicosia. The new church is under construction and is named Archangel Michael Church. The Ambassador was received by priest of the church and 100 of its congregation.

The Coptic Orthodox Church participates in the national campaign to rationalize water consumption entitled Each drop makes a difference . Sinai liberation day is a public holiday in Egypt which celebrates the liberation of the land of Sinai from occupation back to Egyptian sovereignty[1]. It is the anniversary of the liberation of the peninsula of Sinai corresponding to April 25 of each year, celebrating the day in 1982 when Egypt recovered the land of Sinai and the withdrawal of the last Israeli soldier from the city of Taba in 1988.

On the occasion of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the church of St. Verena in the city of Bussum received San Kyril choir that gave a concert entitled Christ the Servant . The choir consists of 150 singers from the Coptic churches in England, France and the Netherlands, and musicians from Egypt, Germany, the Netherlands, France and England.

Abba Markos, bishop of Qubba Gardens and supervisor of Abba Moussa monastery, issued a statement to warn against fake monks collecting donations claiming they collect them for the monastery. He explained that none of the monks of the monastery are serving in the cities and there is no bank account for the monastery at any Egyptian banks.

In the 40-day anniversary mass of the late Bishop Fam of Tima, Bishop Pachom of Suhag, delivered a sermon during which he likened the late bishop to an angel who ministered on earth. He added that many people also likened him Santa Claus as he loved to give the poor and was so simple and meek.

St. Mina Monastery in Alexandria issued a statement to comment on the fire erupted in an under construction church saying it destroyed the construction materials, but nobody died because of the fire. A big fire erupted at an under construction church near the graves of the martyrs.

Coptic Church celebrated Palm Sunday among tight security measures to secure the celebration after it witnessed several terrorist attacks on the same occasion last year. Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem, which was mentioned in the four canonical Gospels.

The Synodical Committee for Mental Health, Of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church holds its first conference to combat addiction in Upper Egypt on April 21 at the monastery of the Virgin Mary in Drunka in Assiut governorate. The conference is held under the title ‘Heal the diseases of our souls’ and tackles a number of topics, including: spiritual and mental illness, mental disorders and concepts of mental health.
