The monastery of St. Shenouda in Sohag (the White Monastery) celebrates the feast of its intercession on July 29th. The celebration has started on July 12th with the participation of thousands of Copts. Shenoute the Great, Saint Shenoute the Archimandrite was the abbot of the White Monastery in Egypt. He is considered a saint by the Oriental Orthodox Churches, and is one of the most renowned saints of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

Pope Twadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, opens the new papal headquarters in South America next September. Pope is going to visit a number of American states in a pastoral care visit next month. The new headquarters is located in New Jersey and will include a church, a papal residence, an administrative building and a large parking lot.

Copts in Obour city expressed their happiness at the finished building of their new church. The church of the virgin and St. Takla was licensed last year and the building was finished to be inaugurated soon.

After they suffered for years to rebuild a new church, Copts celebrated the first holy mass at the new church of St. Mary and St. Abanoub in Koum Loufy. Copts expressed their happiness to pray in the new church though it is not finished yet. The village had witnessed sectarian incidents during which several Coptic houses were set on fire in order to prevent building the church.

City council of Tahta, Suhag, has prevented building a licensed church In Nag Shenouda Rizk. The city council refused to issue a demolition license of the old houses. In 1965, a Coptic man has donated a piece of land to build a mosque in the village in order to allow the Copts to build a church, but the extremists refused to allow Christians to build that church ever since leaving no option before the Copts but to pray in their homes.

An Egyptian woman called Youliana Azer was nominated for Mississauga Local Council elections in Canada scheduled for October 22, 2018. It is noteworthy that the Egyptians in Canada have achieved political successes after the Egyptian Professor Sherif Sabawi became the first Egyptian who wins parliamentary elections in Canada.

The Coptic Orthodox Church of Minya issued a statement to comment on the recent attacks on the Copts of Ezbet Sultan Basha last Friday. Statement denounced that fanatics have refused to allow the Copts to pray and the government is willing to obey such unfair demands.

Father Makarios Anthon, priest of the Church of Prince Tadros in Minbal village, Minya, held a meeting with leaders of the Muslim families to discuss the development of the situation in the village. Copts of the village of Menbal in Minya province were attacked yesterday by fanatics who wanted to punish them after a Coptic man was accused of contempt of Islamic religion. The Coptic man was arrested by police, but this was not enough for the fanatics who wanted to punish all Christians in the village.

A German delegation of 31 tourists visited the spot visited by the holy family in Assiut. They visited Muharraq monastery and the Catholic church in Assiut where they met with Bishop Kyrilos William, Bishop of the Catholic Church in Assiut.

As part of its plan to develop the route of the Holy Family in Egypt, Assiut governorate decided to spend18 million LE to maintain and pave the roads in the path of the Holy Family trip. Yassir Desouky, governor of Assiut said that government is keen on developing the road that receives more than 5 million visitors and tourists per year.

Major General Baki Zaki Youssef, the army officer credited with the idea to destroy the Bar Lev line on the Suez Canal s eastern bank during the 1973 Arab Israeli war has died at the age of 87. Youssef is an Egyptian Coptic officer who was born in the Sinai Peninsula on 23 July 1931. He graduated as a mechanical engineer in 1954 and then joined the army until the late 1980s.

Catholic church in Egypt is going to inaugurate the cave and shrine of the Holy Family in Assuit next Sunday under the patronage of His Beatitude Patriarch Ibrahim Isaac, Patriarch of the Coptic Catholic Church, and His Eminence Archbishop Kyrillos William, Archbishop of Assiut. The new church and shrine are at the church of our lady at the Monastery of Dranka - Assiut, which is supervised by Franciscan Fathers in Egypt.

Copts in Australia launched a campaign demanding the removal of inverted crosses placed at a festival. Abba Suriel, bishop of Melbourne, had expressed his anger at the inverted cross put at the Hobart Winter Festival, which was held in the capital city of Tasmania, Australia. They called the authorities to remove the inverted Cross and to prevent such insults using religious symbols.

In a scene revealed the true Egyptian nature, the Imam of a mosque in Shobra al-Khaima used the loudspeakers of the mosques to call on the Muslims to extinguish the fire at the church. People rushed to the church and did whatever they could to extinguish the fire erupted at the church. Priest of the church expressed his gratitude and thanks for all those who helped to extinguish the fire.
