Copts of Koum Loufy returned to their homes waiting for the officials to return their rights and protect them. A hearing session was held for them in the parliament and their demands were taken into consideration including fixing their demolished homes and enforcing the law against customary reconciliation sessions.

Coptic families in Loufy village, Minya, decided to escape their village after those who burned their homes were released on bail.

Egyptians Against Religious Discrimination called for demonstrations on August 13 in front of the Attorney General's Office, House of the Supreme Court, to protest the escalation of sectarian against Copts in Upper Egypt.

Dr Emad Gad, Coptic member of the House of Representatives, said he is frustrated to see the state ignoring the suffering of Coptic Christians. He said that they are always nice, but do nothing on the ground to prevent such plans of humiliating the Copts.

Father Raphael, priest of St. George's Church in Kom Ombo, said that Copts and Muslims in the village had hardly prevented a sectarian strife.

Dr. Ihab Ramzy, Coptic activist, said that the state is supporting the fanatics and allow them to terrorize the Copts.

Copts in Loufy village said that fanatics have attacked them in order to force them to reconcile with those arrested by police.

The last 8 defendants in Karm village sectarian incidents were released today on 10.000 LE bail. The defendants were accused of stripping an old Coptic woman off and setting several Coptic houses on fire.

Saad Fadl, Coptic man from Karm village, said that a number of Copts from the village were accused of burning two houses of the Muslims though they were interviewed on air at the same time.

After many pressures by police and fanatics, Copts of Ameriyah village agreed to wavier their rights and withdraw the lawsuits and reconcile with the perpetrators.

Father Poulos Halim, Spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church, said that sister Athnasia was killed during random shooting between two cars on the highway between Cairo and Alexandria.

A Coptic man called Emand Megalla and his child John disappeared three days ago in Mallawi, Minya governorate, in mysterious circumstances. His car was found, which means he was kidnapped. Yet, his family has not received calls from the kidnappers.

Joseph Malak, human rights activist, said that the new draft of building churches law will only hinder building the churches.

Two displaced Coptic families in Ameriyah village, Alexandria, returned home today after they were banned for 15 days. This came after several members of the Parliament exerted their efforts to return the displaced Copts.

Abba Makarios, Bishop of Minya, told Copts United that he couldn’t accept stripping an old lady in sectarian attack since it would be repeated habitually though it is against Egyptian ethics.

Police returned the kidnapped Coptic child Paula Ramez, 8 years old, who was kidnapped one week ago. The kidnapper demanded 150.000 LE ransom, but police investigated the matter and arrested the kidnappers and the child was returned home.

National Council for Human Rights met with the Copts of Baida village, Amiriyah, who were attacked in the recent sectarian incidents in order to listen to them and write a report about the attacks. Mouse Makanoty, Coptic man from Baida village, that witnessed the recent attack against the Copts said that militants attacked our houses after rumors about turning a house into a church. He added that police arrested several Copts and let the militants enter their houses and destroy them.

Dr. Emad Gad, Coptic member of the Parliament said that the unified law of building houses of worship was referred to the specialized committees of the Parliament and will be discussed in two weeks

Police gave Copts in Amiriyah the option to reconcile with assailants who attacked them and destroyed their homes or go to prison.

Abba Paula, Bishop of Tanta, met with Coptic MPs to study law of building churches as well as the personal status law.

Monk Polous Riani, deputy of Wadi Rayyan monastery, was sentenced to two years in prison for attacking public employee.
