“I assigned one of my assistants to determine the names and schools of the victims to start compensation procedures,” the minister said.

There will also be compensation from the Ministry of Social Solidarity, according to Abou el-Nasr.

The new ministerial decree is to compensate victim’s families or the wounded, and will apply according to their injuries, Mahmoud added.

Compensation for total or partial disability ranges between 10,000 EGP ($1,452) and 25,000 EGP ($ 3,629). The exact amount of money will be defined according to the medical reports of the injured.

The Students’ Care Fund will fund medical cases that do not have medical insurance, according to Abou el-Nasr.

“The students’ fund is responsible for financial compensations, prosthetic devices and artificial limbs according to regulations of the ministerial decrees,” the minister said.

The Ministry of Education compensated the family of Mariam Ashraf, a victim of the al-Warraq Church shooting, with 30,000 EGP. The ministry made an exception for Ashraf because the decree was issued after her death, said the minister.
