ElBaradei tweets to Egyptian youth on Eid Al-Adha

Nobel peace laureate Mohamed ElBaradei has sent his good wishes to Egyptians on the first day of the Muslim festival of Eid Al-Adha.

"May each one of us live in peace with himself and with others in a nation big enough for everyone," he wrote on Tuesday.

"I'm still convinced that the youth of revolutionary Egypt are its solution and hope, [and that we need] creative thinking and youthful leadership," he added.

ElBaradei, a staunch opponent of deposed president Mohamed Morsi, resigned from his position as interim vice president on 14 August over the violent dispersal of pro-Morsi protest camps in Cairo by security forces, which left hundreds of protesters dead, saying he was troubled by the loss of life “particularly as I believe it could have been avoided."

Following his resignation, he left the country for Europe.
