Bayadi: Coptic Churches will meet soon to discuss Constitution amendments
Dr. Rev. Safwat Bayadi, head of the Evangelical Communion, praised the removal of Article 219 of the current Constitution, which is totally defective and is likely to be used by fanatics to support a religious autocracy in Egypt.

He told Copts United that Article II of the Constitution stating that Islamic Sharia is the main source of legislation is critically important in Egypt. Yet, It's very important that Article III states that non-Muslims may apply their own laws concerning their private legislation as well as choosing their leaders.

He added that Coptic Churches will meet soon to discuss new amendments to the Constitution.
