National Salvation Front supports latest Armed Forces statement

The National Salvation Front (NSF) praised the armed forces’ Monday announcement for not abandoning the Egyptian people and protecting the nation, in a statement issued Monday morning.

The NSF statement stressed that “the armed forces should refrain from any political involvement and refrain from seeking governing power thus respecting the people’s will, which is the main source of legitimacy.”

They also added that the armed forces gave all parties a chance to reconcile with the public’s demands that “President Mohamed Morsi step down and for the transitional period to be run by a roadmap that aims to building a new democratic civilian state.”

“To progress the January 25th revolution, the NSF calls upon people to rally and continue their peaceful sit-ins in all squares across the country including Tahrir Square until the ousting of President Mohamed Morsi succeeds,” the statement said.

Efforts to oust Morsi and his regime were initiated by the Tamarod campaign that gathered over 22 million signatures across the country to withdraw power from the president and call for early elections.

Tamarod plans to besiege Al-Qubba palace in mobilised marches they described as “The People’s Day to Overthrow the Enemy” that will move Tuesday at 5pm.
