Opposition and Brotherhood clash in Egypt's Nile Delta

Clashes erupted late Sunday between opposition protesters and Muslim Brotherhood members in the city of Kafr El-Sheikh, leaving no reported casualties.

The fight started when several assailants, identified as anti-Brotherhood, attacked a hall where members of the Muslim Brotherhood were holding a Labor Day celebration using stones, reported the Ahram Arabic website.

The Muslim Brotherhood in return called for backup from their group's members. Intermittent clashes are still ongoing between the two groups as stones are thrown back and forth. Several were reported injured although no official estimate has yet been announced.

Three police cars rushed to the scene in an attempt to end the conflict although the situation remains tense.

Kafr El-Sheikh has been witnessing many clashes over the past year, mostly between police and anti-Brotherhood protesters. Several demonstrations have been held in Kafr El-Sheikh demanding that the governor who is also a Muslim Brotherhood member, Saad El-Husseini, is replaced.
