St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Zurich, Switzerland, and the Church of St. Mark and St. Maurice in Dietikon, Switzerland, have celebrated the Second Year Passing Anniversary Memorial Service for the great father, Historian and Coptologist, Dr. Samir Fawzy Girgis in the presence of H.G. Abba Demian, bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Germany, and Father Dioscorus of St. Antony monastery.
The mass was celebrated in the Wasserkirche (Water Church) of Zürich whom Dr. Samir has always loved.
The late Pope Shenouda III has said about Dr. Samir Fawzy Girgis: I listed carefully when he speaks as I learn a lot from him.
It's worth mentioning that Dr. Samir Fawzy Girgis is the author of several books, and has participated in writing the Coptic Encyclopedia. He has also made the Coptic Saints of the Theban Legion well known. Dr. Samir has also participated actively in the foundation and service of the Coptic Church in Switzerland.
