At a Conference at the Wasat Party Headquarters, a number of political parties and movements issued a strong political statement denouncing the activation of the emergency law and demanding it be abolished. They also announced their refusal of military trials for civilians and demanded the amendment of parliamentary election laws to introduce a complete proportional list system. They also announced their refusal of the extention of the transitional period until the presidential elections are held the following the parliamentary elections. The conference was attended by presidential hopefuls Ayman Nour, Amr Moussa, Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh, and a number of representatives of political parties such as Amr Hamzawy for the Freedom Party and the Safeer Nour for the Wafd Party.
