Sisi says Egypt can serve as gateway for Japanese industries into different markets

Egypt s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said on Sunday that Egypt has the necessary potential to be a gateway for all Japanese industries into different markets in Africa, the Middle East and Europe, as Egypt is linked to many nations around the world with free trade agreements.

According to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi told the head of Toyota Tsusho company Ichiro Kashitani that Japan is a strategic partner for Egypt and that there are many available investment opportunities in Egypt nowadays in light of the several mega national projects the country is currently carrying out, including the Suez Canal Corridor project.

El-Sisi talked about the measures taken to iron out hurdles facing investors, presidential spokesman Rady said.

Kashitani briefed El-Sisi on the projects his company is planning to carry out in Egypt, saying more consultations will be held with the Egyptian side within the coming period over these projects.

He added that the Japanese business sector sees promising investment opportunities in Egypt within the coming period, especially in the auto manufacturing and oil exploration domains.

Kashitani will visit Egypt this year, and he will hold another meeting with El-Sisi on the sidelines of the Japan-Africa summit hosted by Japan in August, the statement said.

Toyota, which has been operating in Egypt for several decades, sees Egypt as its gateway to Africa, the spokesman said.
