Egypt s Army Chief-of-Staff Mohamed Farid met on Tuesday in Cairo with the Chief of Staff, Joint Staff of the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) Koji Yamazaki and an accompanying delegation.
The two commanders exchanged views on regional and international issues affecting security and stability in the region, as well as ways to increase military cooperation and joint training.
General Yamazaki stressed the importance of military cooperation with Egypt and its strategic role in achieving security and stability in the Middle East.
He also expressed his deep appreciation and trust in the Egyptian Armed Forces, which has played a great role in achieving security and stability in Sinai, prompting the Japanese government to participate in the multinational force in Sinai.
Farid stressed the depth of the established ties binding the two countries and expressed hopes that the next phase will see more joint cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.
The meeting was attended by senior commanders of the Egyptian Armed Forces and the Japanese ambassador in Cairo.
