Ministry of Solidarity has dissolved a total of 350 non-functioning charity associations in Gharbiya governorate; Youm7 quoted Gamal Nassar, an official at the ministry.
Nassar, Undersecretary of the ministry, said that there are 1,653 associations whose activities are weak; he added that these associations might face closure in case they did not strengthen their program.
Gharbiya has around 32 care centers, making it the second governorate following Cairo in terms of number of civil associations.
A current Civil Society law has attracted huge criticism as many consider it an attempt to turn civil associations into quasi-government bodies.
