Civil aviation ministry denies end of probe into crashed Russian plane

Egypt’s Civil Aviation Ministry denied in a Tuesday statement media reports claimed the completion of investigations into the last year crash of the Russian passenger plane.

Russian new agency Sputnik quoted a statement from the Russian Transport Ministry saying that Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathy has announced that the investigation into the crash of Russia’s A321 passenger plane over the Sinai Peninsula in late October 2015 “enters its final stage.”

During his meeting with Russian Transport Minister on Monday, Fathy asserted the Egyptian Attorney General will be visiting Moscow next week to brief the Russian side on the outcome of the investigations, Youm7 reported.

On Sunday, Fathy flew to Moscow where he met with Russian senior officials to discuss resumption of the direct flights between the two countries, which were suspended shortly after a Russian A321 plane crashed in the Sinai late Oct killing all 224 people on board.
