Anba Marteros, general bishop, said that there is a difference between divorce and the dissolution of a marriage since divorce is due to committing adultery and dissolution of a marriage occurs for 10 reasons according to the new law including the discovery of mental illness or chronic physical and changing one’s religion.
He added that getting married from another sect is against Coptic law. Therefore, such person is not allowed to practice church rituals or receive communion.
