President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi welcomed Arab investment in Egypt in to explore for and produce oil and gas, according to a presidential statement released after his meeting with representatives of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) Monday.
Arab petroleum ministers and representatives from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Algeria, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Libya and Egypt met in Cairo Sunday to attend OAPEC’s meeting. They reviewed the outcomes of the meeting with Sisi, according to the statement.
Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Mulla attended the meeting with Sisi, noting that “Cairo OAPEC meetings addressed the active Arab role at the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris,” the statement said.
“The meetings also decided to activate the studies conducted on ways to advance cooperation in the oil sector,” the statement added.
