4 killed, 10 injured in road accident south of Giza
At least four people were killed and 10 others injured Sunday in a road accident south of Giza, Youm7 reported.
 
The accident occurred when a microbus flipped over due to extreme speed at Giza’s southern town of Etfeeh, source at Egypt’s health ministry told Youm7.
 
Civil protection forces rushed to the site and the injured were transferred to a nearby hospital, the source said.
 
The Ministry of Health has previously reported that about 21,000 are killed and 150,000 injured annually on Egypt’s roads in accidents.
 
According to a report issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) in April 2015, an average of 17 people died per day in road accidents in Egypt in 2014.
 
Official figures spotted a 7.5 percent decline in accidents rate in 2014 with a total of 14,403 road in comparison to 2013 (15,578 accidents,) according to the report.
 
It added that human error caused 59.2 percent of all 2014 road accidents, while 19.3 percent were caused by technical failure.
 
Egypt has the Middle East’s highest road fatality rate, according to the report.
