Re-vote in 4 constituencies kicks off Dec. 5: HEC

The runoff election in four constituencies is scheduled to start over Dec. 5 after being canceled by court orders, Youm7 reported.

The revote will take place in Beni Suef City and Al Wasta; two constituencies of Upper Egypt’s governorate of Beni Suef, Alexandria’s constituency of Al Raml and the Damanhur constituency located north of Egypt’s Delta governorate of Beheira, Head of the High Election Committee Ayam Abbas was quoted by Youm7 Tuesday.

The vote for Egyptian expats is scheduled for Dec. 5-6 and Dec. 6-7 domestically, Abbas added.

On Oct. 25, the Administrative Court cancelled the parliament elections results in two constituencies in Upper Egypt’s governorate of Beni Suef after a name of a judicially disqualified candidate was listed on the ballots, Youm7 reported.

For the same reason, the court cancelled voting results in El-Raml constituency after candidate Aly Elba, who was excluded over a “bad reputation,” earned 23,000 votes in the first round.

In Damanhur, a jailed parliamentary candidate won some 18,472 votes in Damanhur. The candidacy Mabrouk Zeatar, however, was approved by the Administrative court, even though he is jailed pending a retrial.
