Egypt offers condolences for death of UAE, Bahraini soldiers in Yemen

The UAE news agency reported that at least 45 Emirati soldiers were killed in an attack by Houti forces. The Houtis fired a rocket that targeted a weapon store in a military camp in Marin area near to Saudi borders, Reuters reported Friday. Meanwhile, Bahrain stated at least five of its soldiers were killed in Yemen.
 
President Abdel Fatahal-Sisi offered his sincere condolences to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Friday afternoon, presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef stated.
 
“The President emphasized that the Emirati soldiers set an example of chivalry and exemplified the meaning of sacrifice while defending Arab lands,” Youssef said.
 
President Sisi also spoke with His Majesty the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and voiced his deepest condolences for the Bahraini soldiers who killed in Yemen.
 
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry also offered condolences to governments of the two Gulf States, said ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid in a statement.
 
Egypt was one of nine member states that participated in the military coalition in Yemen against the Houthis, who have controlled northern parts of the country since January. Since March the coalition troops have launched airstrikes against the Shiite Houthis.
