"Unequivocal evidence suggests that the crimes the defendants have been convicted of took place long after the (defendants) were arrested," the statement read.
The death sentences and executions are a stain of disgrace against those who support the Egyptian regime," the statement read.
Seven defendents were sentenced to death, including a fugitive, by the military court and two were sentenced to life in prison over charges of an armed attack on a bus carrying Armed Forces soldiers in the al-Amireya district in Cairo on March 13, 2014, killing six soldiers in a military police checkpoint in the Mostorod area on March 15, 2014 and killing two officers in the Arab Sharkas area on March 19, 2014.
According to the AOHR, the defendants told the military court they were tortured into confessing to the crimes and were arrested by the security forces months before the crimes occurred, which proved they were innocent.
