Officer jailed for smoking in court room
An officer was ordered jailed for 24 hours for smoking during a Thursday court session of 2013 riots at the U.S. embassy; Judge Mohamed Nagy Shehata said the policeman “would smoke Shisha next time” if he went unpunished, Youm7 reported.

Shehata requested that no one approach him about his judgement after the session, saying that the first lieutenant, who was guarding the court room, did not respect his presence.

The hearing was part of a trial of 23 people charged with murder, sabotage, show of force, terrorizing citizens, disrupting public peace, and possessing weapons.

The defendants allegedly committed their crimes at the U.S. embassy July 22, 2013, to protest the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi.

A total of 168 people were sentenced to two years in prison in February for the same charges around the embassy, yet dating back to September 2012 while protesting a film produced in the U.S. that was considered offensive by Muslims in Egypt.
