Sisi awards woman who dressed as a man for 40 years
A total of 31 mothers have been given the option of receiving a 50,000 EGP award or free pilgrimage, Sisa Abu Doah, one of the mothers honored by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi Sunday, told Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Abu Doah, who is in her 60s, hid her sex under loose men’s clothing for over 40 years to work like a man. Her husband had died while she was pregnant with their only daughter.

The Luxor woman said in several interviews she no longer feels comfortable in women’s clothing, and that she had worked in various different jobs, like polishing shoes, construction and farming.

The mothers were selected and honored by the Ministry of Solidarity as “ideal mothers.” Abu Soah was awarded under the category of women breadwinners. She still provides for her married daughter and her grandchild.
